FRIDAYTHOUGHTS #302: BECOMING NON-NEGOTIABLE - THE INNER CONTRACT TO GROW

I remember watching this clip of Kobe Bryant discussing training. He made a contract with himself—a strict schedule. When he felt like modifying it, he told himself, no. There are no non-negotiables. No negotiating. He set his contract, committed to his schedule, and just did the work.

That resonated deeply.

Listen, whether it’s business or personal growth, don’t negotiate with yourself. To reach any goal or dream worth having, you need a level of obsession. Obsession gets a bad rep, but it’s necessary to do anything worthwhile.  When you have a beautiful obsession that's grounded in purpose - you'll find fulfillment in that goal/dream.

Goals/dreams not tied to your purpose will never fulfill your soul. Read that again.

This message isn’t for everyone. It’s only for those who have made the choice to show up as the most healed/greatest version of themselves.

This week, I challenge you to set your schedule for both inner and outer work: mindset practice, reading, meditation, affirmations, visualizing, gym sessions, healthy eating. It’s not about hitting home runs—it’s about progress. Baby steps count. Every step forward is a win.

The sacrifices you make aren’t losses—they’re investments in your joy, peace, and self-love. It’s progress that brings the real joy.

As I always say: go through hell now to get to heaven. No negotiating with your schedule this week—no negotiating with your future self, your purpose, or the people waiting on you: your family, your loved ones, your community.

They need the best version of you. And trust me—the work you’re doing is seen. You are appreciated. You are needed. 

Keep giving the world your gifts.

The painful moments are simply opportunities for growth. And the more you elevate the more you clearly see that. The more you clearly see how divinely guided/protected you are. This is such a beautiful opportunity, it really is. I am overly grateful to be here with you all during this time in this video-game called life. Grateful.
