FRIDAY THOUGHTS #181: GROWTH AIN'T SEXY AT FIRST

Growth ain't sexy at first.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up. Growth with anything has a process, and the process is pretty much universal: something breaks down so something bigger and better can take its place. It's a delayed gratification.

Do you want to get bigger muscles? Welp, you gotta tear the muscles you already have so they can grow back larger. 

Do you want to grow healthy plants? Welp, you're going to have to prune (cut) certain leaves from time to time to make sure the plant grows healthy.

Do you want to increase your income? Welp, you're going to have to change your mindset about money and break certain unhealthy financial habits amongst other things.

Do you want to get better at relationships? Do you want to be happier? Find more joy? Well, with all of these things you are going to have to change your mindset and in turn change certain habits and in that process there is a death and a rebirth. Something has to break for something better to take its place.

Some of our most inspiring moments of growth always happens after a "storm" has hit our lives. The bigger the setback, the bigger the inherent blessing. That's just the way growth happens...that's just the way life is.

The problem is that most people fail to see the beauty in the storms of life. Most people fail to take advantage of the opportunities for growth that those moments give us and because of that, most people never grow.

It hurts to grow. It hurts to be happy, but you gotta give to get. The most loving people I've ever met have been through some of the most tragic circumstances, but they took advantage of them and grew. Don't fear growth. 

Yes it will hurt...but it will simply break you into something beautiful. Matter of fact, the pain is simply allowing your inherent growth to shine through and I promise you that it looks beautiful on you. Yes, you're growth looks gorgeous. You're shining from the inside out and that encourages others to do the same.

Keep shining and keep growing. It ain't sexy at first, but once the smoke clears...it's the most beautiful thing you've ever laid eyes on. Enjoy the beautiful process of growth.
