FRIDAY THOUGHTS #156: WHO IS YOUR GOD?

Who is your God?

Many people are obsessed with receiving acceptance from their friends/family, others are obsessed with their physical health, others are obsessed with finding a romantic partner, others are obsessed with politics, their youth/beauty, making money, etc.

Everyone has a God. What you are obsessed about usually is your God - and everyone is obsessed with something.  Usually the thing we are obsessed about is the thing that gives us our confidence.  Usually the thing that gives us our confidence is the thing that we are exceptionally good at or it could simply be the thing that makes us feel comfort. 

What gives you your confidence?

There was a point in my life that I was obsessed about my career and at a young age I was naturally very good at it - it gave me confidence. Maybe you're naturally beautiful and the thing that ultimately gives you confidence in your life is your beauty...but what happens when that beauty fades?

Or maybe the thing that gives you the most comfort in this world is your family, you couldn't imagine moving to another city and living without them...but what happens if, God forbid, you don't have your family with you anymore?

Maybe it's your finances, whatever it is, the point that I am making is that if the thing that ultimately gives you confidence in your life is something that can leave, you are in a vulnerable position. If the thing that gives you your confidence can leave, you are essentially building your house on a foundation of sand. If the thing that gives you confidence in your life is anything other than your God-given purpose - you are severely limiting your growth and happiness.

Your looks can fade, your money can go, your family can leave, however, your God-given purpose on this earth will never leave you. If your happiness is dependent on the weather, then the weather is your God. If your happiness is dependent on if you're in a relationship, then relationships are your God...and whatever is your God controls you.

The only thing that should control you is God and your God-given purpose - nothing else.  Your inherent value, will never leave...your inherent greatness will never diminish, no matter what changes happen on the outside that are out of your control, your purpose remains. 

When you become obsessed with fulfilling your purpose, you put yourself in position to find true happiness, peace and joy. This is the kind of joy that can never be taken away, the kind of joy that is not dependent on anything or anyone...this is the kind of joy that is only dependent upon you and your ability to reprogram your mindset.

Now you are in control of your happiness and no one else. This is true peace. This is the obsession to seek. Seek your purpose and you'll find the joy you've always wanted to find. 

Purpose over everything. 

I see you doing the inner/outer work and it's working my friend. People need what you have, continue to do the inner/outer work to give it to them. #bless 🤍
