FRIDAY THOUGHTS #133: BRICK BY BRICK

 

Brick by brick.

The journey to fulfilling a goal, a dream, or better yet, your purpose, will not always be sunshines and rainbows - as you are well aware of.  The discipline it takes to achieve a goal is admirable and necessary. You will do the same tasks over and over and over again, brick by brick, day in and day out. Sometimes it won't feel very "exciting", but it's worth it. Many times it will feel like: brick by unsexy brick.  It won't feel sexy getting up at 5am when it's cold outside, but if that's what you need for your schedule - it will be worth it. Sometimes, it won't feel sexy going to the gym during a day that you're feeling tired - but it will be worth it. Sometimes, it won't feel sexy eating healthier when your taste buds would prefer eating something un-healthier - but it will be worth it. It's the not the "easy" road that gets you to achieving a goal. The "easy" road is the road more often travelled for a reason. It takes a certain level of character to discipline yourself to start and maintain the journey. The journey to fulfilling any worthy goal will be filled with you having to do many mundane and unsexy tasks, day in day out.  You'll have to do so many different things that you may not have any desire to do, but you'll do them and eventually do them like you love them because they are necessary. You'll learn to love them, the more you fall in love with the process. 

Standing on the stage and winning an award, creating a successful company, enjoying the family of your dreams, writing a book that is recognized by your colleagues, etc. all of these are examples of the sexy part of the journey. This is the part of the journey that everyone wants to be a part of. Everyone wants to be a part of the celebrations, the parties and all the good-times that come along with achieving a worthy goal, however, most ppl fail to understand the amount of blood, sweat and tears you will be commanded to endure in order to achieve what they admire.

To display your inherent greatness takes a level of obsession to bettering yourself that many ppl shy away from. It will be challenging/painful at times, to achieve that goal...however, it is even more painful to never get in the race in the first place. It's even more painful to allow life to bully you into settling in any area of your life. Yes, this journey won't seem very sexy at times, however, the person you are growing to become during this journey is excitement enough. You have a gift inside you to share with the world, continue doing the inner/outer work and give it to them. I see you. #keepgoing #bless
