FRIDAY THOUGHTS #63: LET IT GO
Let it go.
Knowing what battles to fight...and what battles are simply distractions is a superpower. The more our characters develop, the more we mature, it becomes easier and easier to see the distractions in life. It's a life hack...I feel like this journey of life is like a video game and the person who is able to avoid the distractions the most gets the prize. This life is FULL of distractions...the majority of people spend their entire lives caught up in one distraction after the next and never know it. Les Brown has a famous quote that I love, he says: “The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”
In other words, they never fully realized who they were and lived a life that was nowhere near their potential. Or in other words, they got caught up in the distractions of life...the myriad of distractions that will consume you if unaware.
Distracted by: politics, bad eating habits, a current circumstance of any kind, low self-esteem, certain relationships, and the list goes on and on.
Even for those of us who are aware of who are...and daily becoming more aware, even we experience distractions - it's never ending, it's a part of the journey, however, how we deal with the distractions will determine how fast we get to the other side. What distractions do you have in your life right now? I'll give you a second to think of them. Maybe you're mad at a co-worker for a rude comment, haven't talked to that girl you know you should, haven't broken up with the person you know you shouldn't be with, haven't reconciled with the person you know you should be with, haven't went to the gym consistently or stayed on your diet...maybe you're still spending too much, maybe you haven't started that company you promised you would, etc.
Each and every time we give in to the distraction, we slow down progress.
Let your pride ego...become more disciplined and do the things you know you should. Your family is waiting on you to become everything you've always been. This is just a post to encourage everyone of us in the journey to: #keepgoing. I know we all drop the ball from time to time, that's life, however...the goal is simply to drop the ball less than we did yesterday.
Pay attention to the distractions. Let it go. Continue to face all of your fears and face all of the initial discomforts that doing the right thing creates. You're on your way champion, you have what you need...and people need what you have. Continue to give it to them. #bless
